Where is Burr Travel located, and how long has it been in business?

• Burr Travel is a full-service travel agency at 162 Laurel Ave in Northport, New York, on Long Island's North Shore. The Burr family founded the agency in 1961, and it has served Long Island travelers ever since. Our office is open Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 5:00pm, with evening appointments available, and our advisors also work with clients across the United States by phone, email and video.

Who owns Burr Travel?

• Burr Travel is owned by Karen Alm, Liz Henn and Amy Stuewe. All three are working travel advisors who plan trips for clients alongside the rest of the Burr Travel team.

Is Burr Travel part of a larger travel network?

• Yes. Burr Travel is a member of Travel Leaders Network, which gives our advisors access to supplier partnerships, training and support while we remain an independent, locally owned agency.

• Burr Travel specializes in luxury river and ocean cruises and escorted tours, with concierge planning on every trip. As a full-service agency, we also plan family trips, honeymoons, destination weddings and group travel.

• Burr Travel books river cruises most often with Ama Waterways and Scenic. We also book other river cruise lines when they are a better fit for a client's dates, itinerary or budget.

Which luxury ocean cruise lines does Burr Travel recommend?

• Burr Travel's advisors book luxury ocean voyages most often with Silversea, Oceania and Azamara. The right line depends on the ship size, destinations, dining and onboard style a traveler prefers, and we help each client choose.

Which escorted tour operators does Burr Travel work with?

• Burr Travel books escorted and private tours most often with Tauck, Abercrombie & Kent, Kensington and Collette. We also work with other tour operators when they are the best fit for a client's trip.

• Yes. Burr Travel's advisors have sailed and toured many of the itineraries they recommend. They visit ships, hotels and destinations on their own travels and on supplier training trips, and they bring that firsthand knowledge to every recommendation.

Can Burr Travel plan a river cruise or tour for a traveler with mobility needs?

• Yes. Burr Travel has long helped clients who are managing mobility, health or medical needs. Some ships, ports and tours involve stairs, gangways or cobblestones, so we check those details before recommending a cruise line, ship, cabin or tour. We also arrange transfers and hotels with accessibility in mind.

How we work

What does Burr Travel's concierge planning include?

• Every trip booked with Burr Travel includes a pre-trip consultation, air and transfer coordination, pre- and post-cruise hotel stays, dining and excursion reservations, and support while you travel.

Is there a fee to work with a travel advisor at Burr Travel?

• Burr Travel charges a research and quoting fee when we begin planning your trip. The fee is waived when you book with us. If you decide not to book, the fee is non-refundable. Air-only bookings carry a separate booking fee.

What happens if something goes wrong while I'm traveling?

• Call Burr Travel's main office at (631) 757-8500. We will work with the cruise line, tour operator, airline or hotel to sort it out.

• In 2026, Burr Travel received the Heritage Business Award from the Northport Historical Society and Museum, recognizing the agency's 65 years of service to the Northport community.
